Reiki and Beyond
I remember asking my mom for a reiki treatment every now and then I had a headache or a stiff neck. I got those often back in my college days. I did not understand how reiki worked then but remember feeling better after she gave me some reiki energy. Since then, I got curious to learn reiki and know more about it. My journey as a reiki practitioner has helped me regain inner strength. It helps me feel more grounded and promotes a deeper connection with my true self.
How does Reiki work?
Reiki is a branch of alternative holistic medicine that originated in Japan. It involves the channeling of universal energy for healing and benefiting living beings. Reiki restores balance wherever its been lost. Because Reiki practice is balancing at all levels, it can always help and never harm anyone who receives a treatment or practices on oneself.
How is a Reiki treatment done?
Reiki practitioners apply reiki energy (chi in traditional chinese medicine) through their palms to specific points on the body to achieve balance and initiate self healing. Any kind of stress causes some sort of an energy blockage over time and with accumulation of stress more blockages form and prevent energy to flow smoothly in our body and to our vital organs making them slowdown or breakdown. According to Ayurveda, the physical body and energy body are inseparable. When Reiki practitioners apply the ki energy to various points on the body, the blockages melt and allow energy to flow smoothly. Some blockages are removed in one session and others take few sessions. The physical body starts to heal then. It is so true that given a chance the body heals itself ! Reiki sessions are very relaxing and are done in a peaceful setting with or without background music. Clents report some relief after the first session. But it can take a few sessions for deeper relief and permanent change.
Does distance healing really work ?
My answer is yes it does. Second degree reiki practitioners learn and receive a distance symbol which allows reiki to flow through time and space. The reiki practitioner uses this symbol to connect to the clients energy field when he or she is not physically present. Honestly, I was skeptical before I started to practice distance reiki. With practice it got easier to set up an energetic link with the person and channel reiki energy . Clients I have worked with through distance healing give similar feedback to the ones I have worked with in person. They report feeling relaxed, calm, better energy, and ease from pain.
